4 Ways to Reverse Engineer to Create the Life you Want

Henry Ford said ‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right’.

I love this quote; it is so true and yet sometimes feels elusive. You are the creator of your reality. The Law of Attraction is always working whether you are aware of it or not. Just like the law of gravity; we can’t see it, but it’s there.  I studied for 2 years to become a certified Law of Attraction Coach that included many techniques and methods to help people create their own reality; to be the painter and to paint the picture of the life they wanted.

What is the Law of Attraction?

In a nutshell, the law of attraction is a universal law. It works on the basis of like attracts like. The vibrations that you send out, via all of your dominant thoughts and feelings are met, and like vibrations are sent back to you. Your vibration, which is determined by your thoughts and feelings is your point of attraction. What this means is that whatever you’re giving your energy and attention to is what will be attracted into your life. You are creating your own reality based on what you think and feel.

So if you’re feeling good and enjoying your life, you’ll send out a vibration that attracts more of the same. On the other hand, if you’re feeling angry, stressed or afraid, you’ll attract more experiences that create those feelings. That’s because the energy of the universe responds to whatever energy you are emitting, giving you more of the same. It does not decide what energy is best for you; it simply gives you back what you put out, like a boomerang.

Our thoughts work like magnets and have a certain frequency. Therefore, as you allow certain thoughts to dwell in your mind, it attracts similar events that are on the same frequency, whether they are negative or positive. Thoughts become things, so be careful what you focus your attention on. If you are constantly putting out lower vibration thoughts; like ‘I am not good enough’, ‘I will never be successful’, etc. Thoughts emit a vibration that is sent out into the universe and since likes attract like; a similar vibration will be reflected back to you.

Tuning Fork Explains How this Works

When you create a sound wave through a tuning fork, whatever vibration is sent out of a tuning fork; another tuning fork that can across a room starts vibrating at the same level; it will tune to it naturally. If there are other tuning forks in the room with a different vibration, all the other tuning forks will not respond. Therefore what thoughts and feelings you send out, the corresponding frequency will be attracted back. Once you understand that your thoughts and feelings are emitting a vibration, you understand you are the creator of your reality and can change the things you think about and focus on.

Many motivational speakers and life coaches focus their practices on this manifestation law. Manifesting the life that we desire has become the current go-to strategy that everyone has suddenly started raving about. But; what is the law of attraction?

It is a belief that positive thoughts will bring forth positive changes in life and negative thoughts will bring along negative changes. It is a simple philosophy but certainly delivers what it promises if you learn to use it correctly. Most entrepreneurs use it to achieve their highly ambitious goals, so why can’t you?

No matter who you are, where you stand in life at the moment, and what are the current issues you are facing, when you start thinking about becoming successful, the entire universe will gear up to make it happen. That’s the premise behind the law of attraction for success. Always remember that humans are capable of reaching unimaginable heights of success simply through using the power the law of attraction.

Thinking positive is the key to success. Positivity should not just reflect from your body language but must be rooted in your thought processes, behavioral patterns, feelings and emotions and approaches or perspectives in life. This isn’t something novel or out-of-the-box because, since our childhood, society has taught us to be positive.

Think about people frowned upon by the world and later turned out to be world leaders in their respective fields. If they hadn’t kept their spirits high and thinking positive, they wouldn’t have been able to achieve all they did in life. Take the example of Nelson Mandela. He lost his father at the tender age of 9 and spent 18 years at the Robben Island prison, where he was kept in a small cell without bedding or plumbing. Being a black prisoner, he received fewer privileges than others. He was served less food than others at the prison and had to work twice as hard. Still, he went on to become one of history’s most inspirational leaders. He didn’t let himself break or succumb to bitterness. He left the prison with the sole aim to build a more homogenous and just society. He achieved that. So, people like Mandela are an ideal example of the power of positivity and keeping a vision.

How to Shift your Vibration

There are many different ways to shift your thoughts and ultimately your vibration. During my 2 year studies to be certified as a Law of Attraction Coach, I learned many techniques and tools and have since become certified in over 10 different energy and healing modalities. These are my top 4 tips to shift your vibration and create and attract what you want in life.


One of the methods to shift your vibration is using positive affirmations. This is using a set of positive statements to focus your thoughts on what “you want” instead of “what you don’t want”. If you keep repeating a thought, it eventually becomes rooted in your subconscious mind.

So, you can overwrite your limiting thoughts by repeating to your subconscious of what you want to attract vs negative self-talk that we frequently say to ourselves. You’re using affirmations to help change long-standing patterns and beliefs. A good way to bring this change about is to act as if you’ve already succeeded. A goal remains something you have to work toward. An affirmation, on the other hand, strengthens your confidence by reminding you of what you can do right now.

Affirmations are created in the present tense and usually start with “I” statements. Many people find it helps to link affirmations to core values, such as kindness, honesty, or dedication. This can help you remain focused on the broader picture of what really matters to you.

Once you have your affirmations, follow these recommended practices:

  • Start with about 5 minutes at least twice daily. Try saying affirmations upon waking up and going to bed, in addition to once or twice… or even more, throughout the day.
  • Repeat each affirmation about 10 times. Listen to yourself saying it, focusing on the words. As you say them, think about how it would feel to have those things and tap into that feeling. Feel it as deeply as you can.
  • Ask someone to repeat them for you; or record them. Listening to someone else repeat your affirmations may help reinforce your belief in them or record them and play them back while you are walking the dog or doing the dishes.
  • Make your routine consistent. Try not to skip any days. Create a habit to working through these daily.
  • Be patient. It may take some time before your vibration shifts, so stick with your practice! Don’t give up.

Visualization is another great technique that uses the law of attraction and increases your vibrational thoughts. This is done through imagining the life you want or the things you want to attract in your life. It’s similar to affirmations; but instead of words, it’s images and pictures. Why using visuals or pictures is so successful is explained by neuroplasticity, or your brain’s ability to change and adapt, offers a clue to help understand what makes visualization work.

Your brain sometimes gets a little mixed up on the difference between reality and imagination. Creating a mental image of something you want to create in your life, a new rewarding job, a romantic relationship, etc., activates the same brain areas that actually experiencing these situations would. Therefore, your brain cannot tell if it’s real or imagined. Either way, you win as you are programming your subconscious mind.

Regular repetition of these images can encourage your brain to take these positive pictures as a fact. There is great power in goal setting and visualization. One great way is by creating a vision board. It can be easy to have an inspiration board that looks amazing AND helps you visualize your best life.

A vision board can be created by using magazine pictures or clipping, words and quotes, anything that inspires the images of the life you want. There are even APPS and programs that help you create your vision board on your computer that can be combined with inspiring music. The key is that it inspires you and feels good when you imagine all the things on your vision board.

The vision board, goal board or dream board supports the power of visualization. Remember to look at your vision board throughout the day and really tune in to the emotions and excitement about living that life and achieving the things you want.


Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not being overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is about being engaged with the present situation or moment. You reconnect with your immediate experiences, such as the smell of the food you are eating, the colors of flowers in your garden, or the touch of clothes against your skin. 

The idea behind mindfulness is to help you take control of everything in your life, lessen the burden on your mind, make you calm and stress-free, and improve your self-confidence. You will feel an overall positive change in your mood and behavior through mindfulness.

When you are practicing mindfulness throughout the day, you are increasing your vibration. The vibration zone you ideally want to be sending your thoughts and feelings out from. While practicing mindfulness, you are becoming much more aware of your emotional state of being and your dominant thoughts at any given time.

So, using your emotional scale as a guideline, if you are aware of your emotions and your thoughts, and they are feeling good, then you are giving out high vibrations; remember likes attracts like.

If however, you notice your thoughts and emotions are not feeling so good, it gives you the message that you are not giving off the higher vibration you want to. It’s a wonderful self-reflection tool.  It gives you a great opportunity to improve the situation and increase your vibration. 

Can you see where there is a great connection between mindfulness and law of attraction?

  • Notice your self-talk and be mindful of what you are telling yourself and how it’s making you feel. Are you criticizing yourself or someone else? Do you expect things to be hard? Do you feel discouraged or disappointed? All these thoughts have a vibration and each vibration attracts more of the same to it. The good news is once you notice your feelings, you’re on your way to releasing them.
  • Love and accept yourself no matter what and try not to beat yourself up over how far you still have to go. Instead, observe yourself without judging. This helps you release and reduce upsetting emotions and raises your vibration to a higher level.
  • Notice the emotions you’re feeling, and then pivot. What emotions are you are feeling? Where do you feel them in your body? What is causing them? Then, ask yourself what would the opposite emotions be, where you would feel them, and what could cause those opposite emotions?

Using mindfulness together with the Law of Attraction can shift your vibration and help you move towards what you desire.

Using Affirmations and Tapping Together

This one wins the prize in my book. It is so easy to do and helps shift your vibration on a much deeper level. It combines a conscious thought process and a subconscious shift to your energy system.

Emotional freedom technique (EFT), or simply EFT tapping combines cognitive and physical elements and shift to the energetic system

Based on Chinese medicine, meridian points are thought of as areas of the body energy flows through. These pathways help balance energy flow to maintain your health. EFT focuses on the meridian points or energy points to restore balance to your body’s energy. It’s believed that restoring this energy balance can shift your energy vibration.

The primary aim behind practicing EFT tapping is to balance energy and improve emotional health. It is an evidence-based therapy validated by the American Psychological Association’s Task Force on Empirically Validated Treatments.

There are nine EFT tapping points, including: the side of your hand, under-eye area, eyebrow point, under the nose, chin point, side of your eyes, collarbone point, top of the head, and underarm.

Since EFT/tapping works so well at shifting the energy at the deepest level; combining this with affirmations helps deepen the shift in vibration. The other benefit is that it only takes a few minutes a day to do this.

You choose your affirmation and go through the tapping points while you embody the affirmation and amplifies the thought.

Closing Message

The key to using the law of attraction and the tools outlined, is to keep at it; learn as you go and improve your process. Don’t give up too soon; it’s like putting a penny in a positive scale every day. You might not see the scale shift, until one magical day, it all comes together. Don’t give up.
